Exploring Electrical Conductivity of Thiolated Micro‐ and Nanoparticles of Gallium

Nano-/microparticles of gallium (Ga), as a low-melting-point metal, are extensively used in the fields soft electronics and sensors to provide thermal electrical conductivity. However, passivating oxide layer can be formed on surface Ga nano-/microparticles during synthesis process. This is removed by secondary sintering step, especially mechanical sintering, which generally not controllable process, compromises integrity system. Herein, thiol molecules, 1-butanethiol, thiophenol, 4-mercaptopyridine, that functionalize via sonication reduce oxidation used. The resulting particles exhibit conductivity based metal–molecule junctions without requirement for step. In particular, 4-mercaptopyridine functionalized, thiolated higher compared other three systems organic material conjugation provides conductive pathways mix. Subsequently, using these particle systems, devices developed gas, exhalation, flex sensing. study insights into possibility creating combinations molecules with liquid metal-based generate electrically mixes prospects fabricating multifunctional sensors.
